On Saturday evening internationally renowned pianist Jin Ju performed several compositions on seven different pianos to appreciate the evolution of the instrument. Pope Benedict XVI went on to say ” music is a part of all cultures, accompanying all peoples….music arouses emotions difficult to communicate…music can become a prayer”.

As most of you are aware the relics of St. Therese of Lisieux have been touring England and Wales the last couple of days. Typical of St. Therese of Lisieux, thousands have greeted her. Interesting to note, while St. Therese of Lisieux has travelled the world via land, air, and sea this is probably the first time she has travelled underwater via the ” chunnel”.

From the Vatican YouTube channel:
Pope Benedict XVI ” May the love for truth and the constant thirst for God be an incentive for every Christian to seek without ever tiring an ever more intimate union with Christ. This was the wish Benedict XVI expressed on Wednesday, September 23rd, during the General Audience. Pope Benedict XVI outlined the spiritual features of St. Anselm, a medieval monk of intense spiritual life, excellent teacher for the youth, a theologian with an extraordinary speculative ability, a wise politician and an intransigent defender of the libertas Ecclesiae. His life, which led him from Italy to France then to England, was characterized by a profound research of the mysteries of the Christian faith.

After several questions , some have asked about the symbolism associated with eight and some references made in some recent recordings. After some research I have discovered even further significance to the number eight.Throughout histoy the eight pointed star has often been associated with the symbolism of the regeneration of man. Jesus was given His name at the time of His circumcision when He was eight days old. Often in many Christian traditions today children are given their names at baptism. The octagonal shape of the baptismal font base and even in St. John the Lateran ( San Giovanni in Laterano) the baptistry is known for its octagonal shape and the eight porphyry columns. In the cupola of the baptistry are eight oil paintings and in the center is a depiction of a dove, symbol of the Holy Spirit. St. John the Lateran Basilica was dedicated to the Savior on November 9, 318 and is also dedicated to John the Baptist and John the Evangelist.
